Keep Calm and Merry On: Holidays on the Homefront. A new exhibit at the Dublin Heritage park and Museums. Explore the bittersweet holidays during wartime when goods were scarce, but morale was high. Features in the exhibit and artifacts from Fleet City, Camp Parks, Camp Shoemaker, and Shoemaker Naval Hospital during the 1940s. Exhibits opens on Sunday, December 1st and runs through January 12, 2014. Admission is free.

All Aboard!! Niles Canyon Railway Train of Lights, December 1st through 29th train departs at 7:30 pm. Experience the magic of the Niles Canyon Railway on a 75 minute roundtrip ride aboard a holiday train covered with thousands of lights. Help Waterford Place fight hunger this Holiday Season. Bins are located in the Leasing Office and Business Center. Our goal is to beat last years collection of 200 lbs. of food.

Most needed non-perishable food: Canned fruits and vegetables, canned meats and fish, low-salt soups, stews, chilis, pasta and tomato sauce, beans and rice, peanut butter, low-sugar cereal and oatmeal, and powdered milk. Donations...

Remember the clubhouse and movie theatre doors are open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays for all residents. Movie In The Park! Friday, August 23rd. Pack up your blankets and beach chairs and head to Emerald Glen Park for a free outdoor showing of Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3 (Rated G). Guest may arrive as early as 7pm. The movie will begin at dusk, typically around 8:30pm. Pack a picnic, or look for food vendors who will be offering great food to enjoy along with the movie.

10th Annual Art and Wine Stroll in Danville. Thursday, August 22nd from 6 pm to 9 pm. Enjoy a fun filled evening of wine tasting, small bites from Danville restaurants, the latest offerings from shops, live music, commemorative wine glass and free trolley rides. Tickets are $25 each and can be redeemed for a wine glass from 5:30-7:30pm the night if the event.

Thyme Infused Turkey Brine

1 gallon water 1 bunch fresh thyme 2 lemons (halved) 6 bay leaves 1/4 C honey 1 Tbl black peppercorns 5 cloves of garlic (smashed) 1 C kosher salt 1/2 C apple cider

Combine all the ingredients in a large pot, bring to a boil. Stir the mixture occasionally to make sure the salt and honey have dissolved completely. Chill before using.
